NotesNOTEWORTHY: This world renowned wine comes from the Vineyard Camparaiolo at casale in San Gimignano. It is almost entirely produced from carefully selected Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. After fermentation it passes into 225 l. French oak barriques and is aged for about 24 months; this is when the wine gains the structure and the elegance it is noted for. The wine then rests in the bottle for at least 12 more months before being introduced to the public. The Campora is a wine with great harmony and a remarkeble structure and complexity.

The Casale estate is just one mile outside the walls of San Gimignano. This is a terrific position as the famous San Gimignano towers come into view behind olive trees, cypresses and vines.

In the 12th-13th centuries the towers were designated as keeps by the “Magnati” or nobles during the Guelph – Ghibelline feuds. As height meant prestige, power and status, towers were as big as the nobles’ egos. Only 13 of the 72 beautiful towers are left standing today.

For many generations the Falchinis were vine growers, cellar masters, horticulturists. In particular they distinguished themselves in their services to the Medici family in Florence between the XVII and XVIII centuries. Even today the Falchini family is committed to the care of the vineyards and the production of fine wines. Riccardo Falchini purchased the Casale Estate in 1964. The old building Casale, which names the surrounding area, was most probably an ancient convent run by friars.

In 1968 Riccardo Falchini planted the first specialized vineyards and ten years later he converted the old wine cellar into a modern cellar and as a pioneer he equipped it with the most advanced machinery for the temperature control of the must and the wines.
The 60 hectares of vineyards and olive trees extend in a beautiful and fascinating landscape of green rolling hills. For over 30 years this winery has been exporting all over the world and has received prized awards and various acknowledgements in international wine competitions and numerous quotations by the press.

Riccardo’s sons Michael and Christopher were born in the USA but lived, studied and worked in Italy all their life. Today they are actively involved in the management of the wine estate along with an efficient and young team working in the vineyards and in the cellar.
