Taurasi "Quattro Confini" 2010, Benito Ferrara

This 100% Aglianico varietal takes its name from the Taurasi region where it is grown and vinified. Late-maturing, Aglianico is an adaptable grape that prefers volcanic soil in higher elevations or calcareous, clayish terrain. The complex, concentrated aromas make it one of the most aristocratic Italian varietals, perfect for aging. Various aromas of cherry, black cherry, geranium, and insistent notes reminiscent of coastal scrub. Refreshing with a notable acidity, it is rounded out by well-structured tannins. Aged 30 months in barrique. Suggested pairing: roast pork shank.
