Today Castello di Verduno can boast, in addition to Barolo and Barbaresco, a small oenological gem in the Pelaverga Piccolo grape. The company owns the first vineyard of 100% Pelaverga Piccolo that was planted in the production area (1972). The grapes are grown in the municipality of Verduno in vineyards located in the Massara and Olmi areas. This singular native vine has been present in the Verduno area since 1600.
Description
Tasting Notes
Very light garnet, bordering on cherry. Rose, pine resin, spices and cherry precede a very fresh, persuasive taste of admirable balance. To be drunk lightly chilled, at around 14 degrees.
Food Pairing
Chicken and pea croquettes, Tuna meatloaf.
